The practice was established in 1992 with an emphasis on historical restoration and custom home design. Over time, the firm broadened its services to include several successful projects in the commercial, institutional and industrial fields. The full service staff now includes licensed civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers.
As a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) since 1992 and as a member of Great Britain’s distinguished Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in 2008, Kevin Hart continues to succeed and contribute to his community, while traveling to various locations around the country to bring clients’ dreams to reality. Elected to the City of Birmingham’s Board of Zoning Appeals, and as a member of the Michigan Society of Architects, Kevin Hart has a much broader perspective on a national level as he is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB).
The staff has taken on a “hand-in-glove” approach to construction and has taken measures to assure that designs are detailed appropriately to be as concise as possible yet flexible enough to respond to changing field conditions. Himself a graduate of The University of Notre Dame with a degree in Architectural Engineering, Kevin Hart has assembled a very talented group of professional designers, drafters and mechanical/structural/electrical engineers including Lawrence Tech graduates Megan Eash, Elizabeth Wilk and Patty Keller. Patty has been a vital member of the firm as Director of Design and Development for over 24 years.
Key members of the staff have extensive experience in historical renovation and design and are active members in the Historical Trust. The firm has been recognized for outstanding design with awards from the city of Warren, Royal Oak, Garden City, Northville, and Detroit. Kevin Hart and Associates has received over twenty awards in Hour Magazine, the Detroit Home Design Awards Competition since October 2005, including first place in the new model home category in February of 2005, 2008 and 2010. And in 2013, 2015 and 2016, Kevin and his team have earned top placements in Historic Renovation/Restoration, along with Awards including Commercial Building/Architecture, Stair and Railing Design, Residential Landscape Design, Vacation Homes, and New Construction (Residential and Commercial).
Situated in downtown Birmingham, Michigan just north of Detroit, the practice has branched out to projects throughout the nation. Kevin Hart and Associates now has a presence in Tampa, Florida and Laurel Island, Georgia.
